Aims of the course

The course aims to offer opportunities to master necessary knowledge and skills in the exciting digital solutions arena. It focuses on not only the technical skills, but also the business and project management skills. The pathway structure provides students with the flexibility to choose any of the three pathways.

The E-Learning technology pathway focuses on the study of e-learning methodology and technology that will be used when developing e-learning materials.

Entry requirements

Applicants should normally have at least a lower second-class Honours degree in any subject and demonstrate an existing interest in IT and an acceptable level of computer literacy. Those with no first degree but have relevant professional qualifications or extensive professional experience will also be considered. Acceptance on to the course will be determined following interview.

International students are expected to meet the university English qualification requirements.

Course structure

The course consists of a mixture of six taught modules including two pathway specialist modules and one project module.

Assessment

Assessment is carried out by a variety of means including: applications design and development, demonstrations, research assignments, unseen examinations and workbooks.

Career opportunities

This course provides students with transferable skills in digital technology problem solving arena. The course is designed to make graduates attractive to a wide range of businesses and suitable to many roles within companies and organisations. Typical employment opportunities include:digital solutions specialist, web application designer or developer, internet technologist, IT consultant or manager, E-Learning technologist or developer. Graduates also go on to freelance work, research projects or to start-up companies. The programme is also excellent preparation for further research or study to PhD and MPhil.
